Qatar halts 3 billion m³ gas shipments to Italy

Qatar has informed Italy that it cannot guarantee the delivery of the 3 billion cubic metres of natural gas stipulated in their bilateral agreement, citing escalating geopolitical tensions linked to the conflict in Iran. The interruption has raised concerns about Italy's energy security and prompted criticism from opposition parties, with the leader of the Five Star Movement describing it as evidence of the Meloni government's failure.

Italian utility Edison announced it will substitute 17 of the 24 scheduled cargoes with alternative supplies to mitigate the shortfall.
