Qatar launches humanitarian bridge to Sudan with 50 trucks of medical aid
Qatar Charity has launched a humanitarian bridge to Sudan, deploying 50 trucks loaded with essential medicines and medical supplies. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Qatar Fund for Development, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Sabeel Hospital to address the escalating health crisis caused by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
The aid aims to support Sudan's healthcare capacity and mitigate the severe shortage of basic supplies, as many medical facilities struggle to provide services. This intervention follows previous efforts by Qatar Charity, such as establishing medical camps in Sudan that provided pediatric cardiac surgeries.
The mission comes amid a dire humanitarian situation. According to World Health Organization estimates, over 20 million people in Sudan require medical assistance, while 21 million face acute food shortages. The conflict has severely damaged the nation's health infrastructure, leaving more than one-third of medical facilities out of service.
