Qatar LNG shipment arrives at Pakistan’s Port Qasim

The Al Marrouna, a Bahamas-flagged LNG tanker, arrived at Port Qasim’s Terminal 2 in Pakistan on Thursday to discharge approximately 81,936 metric tons of liquefied natural gas. The shipment originated from Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal and was delivered under a government-to-government arrangement between Pakistan and Qatar.

The vessel successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on September 7. The arrival is considered a significant development for Pakistan’s energy security, as the country relies on Middle Eastern fuel supplies through this strategic waterway, which has recently faced heightened regional tensions.

This specific cargo from QatarEnergy was secured at a price equivalent to 13.37 percent of Brent crude oil pricing. The shipment arrives as Pakistan seeks to stabilize its energy supplies and mitigate power outages, which previously lasted between six and 12 hours in various regions due to gas shortages.
