Qatar LNG tankers attempt transit through Strait of Hormuz

Qatari LNG tankers are attempting to resume transit through the Strait of Hormuz following months of regional tension. The LNG tanker ‘Al Marrouna’, carrying a cargo loaded in Qatar earlier this month, is currently en route to the Pakistani port of Qasim, with an expected arrival this Thursday. This represents one of the first visible attempts at LNG transit through the strait since July, following a previous attack on a Qatari LNG vessel.

Data indicates that several Qatari-linked LNG tankers are currently in or heading toward the Oman Sea. While some vessels have recently attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz before turning back, the movement suggests Qatar may be adopting a more active strategy to resume exports. To maintain operational flexibility, QatarEnergy continues to load LNG onto available tankers within the Gulf and maintains fuel exports to Kuwait.

The resumption of these shipments is being closely monitored by Asian markets, particularly Pakistan, and European energy analysts, as any disruptions in this vital maritime artery could impact global gas supplies and energy prices.
