Qatar prepares for 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup
Preparations for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Doha, Qatar, are advancing through both competitive play and logistical developments. The Qatar national basketball team has commenced its second-stage Asian qualifying campaign with a match against China at the Al Janoub Arena. This venue, which has a capacity of approximately 8,200, is being utilized as part of the readiness testing for the upcoming global tournament.
In a significant logistical move, Ticketmaster has been named the official ticketing partner for the 2027 World Cup. The Live Nation-owned company will manage digital ticketing, mobile delivery via SafeTix technology, and venue access across all four competition sites: Duhail Arena, Al Attiyah Arena, Al Janoub Arena, and Lusail Arena.
The 2027 tournament, scheduled from August 27 to September 12, will be the first FIBA Basketball World Cup held in the Middle East and North Africa region. It is expected to feature 32 national teams competing in 92 games. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin on August 27, 2026, one year prior to the event.
