Qingdao Port Dongjiakou Ore Terminal stake offered for sale

China Merchants Port Holdings, COSCO Shipping Ports, and IMC have launched a public tender to sell their combined 70% stake in the Qingdao Port Dongjiakou Ore Terminal. The sale is being conducted through the China Beijing Equity Exchange with a minimum total price of CNY1.92 billion (approximately US$290 million).

The stake is being offered as a single package. The selling entities include Mighty Star Investment (25%), COSCO Shipping Ports Investments (Shanghai) (25%), and IMC Qingdao Port Investment (20%). Qingdao Port International, which holds the remaining 30% of the terminal, is not participating in the sale.

Bidders must be enterprise legal persons established in mainland China. The initial disclosure period is scheduled to end on November 11, 2026, with provisions to extend the period in five-working-day increments if no purchaser is secured.

COSCO Shipping Ports stated the disposal aims to optimize resource allocation, while China Merchants Port indicated the move would unlock investment value and strengthen financial flexibility. The terminal company, established in 2014, reported revenue of CNY1.81 billion (US$270 million) and a net loss of CNY108.2 million (US$16.2 million).
