Qivalis consortium of 37 banks to launch euro stablecoin on Ethereum

A consortium of 37 European banks from 15 different countries, operating under the name Qivalis, has announced plans to develop a regulated euro-denominated stablecoin on the Ethereum blockchain.

The digital asset is designed to be pegged 1:1 to the euro, providing a bridge between traditional finance and blockchain technology. The project is being developed to comply with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework to ensure transparency and security.

Qivalis is currently seeking an e-money institution (EMI) license from the Dutch central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). The consortium aims to launch the stablecoin in the second half of 2026.
