QNAP launches QuTS MEGA 2.0 for scale-out NAS data protection
QNAP Systems, Inc. has announced the launch of QuTS MEGA 2.0, an operating system designed for its scale-out MEGA NAS solutions. The update focuses on enhancing data protection and disaster recovery for environments managing petabyte-scale data, such as AI analysis, high-resolution video surveillance, and medical research.
Key features include support for snapshots and Cross-Cluster Mirroring. Snapshots allow administrators to revert to specific points in time to mitigate accidental deletions or ransomware attacks. Cross-Cluster Mirroring enables the continuous replication of these snapshots to external backup clusters, facilitating rapid failover and business continuity if a primary site becomes unavailable.
Built on a distributed Ceph-based architecture, the system allows for seamless expansion from 3 to 96 nodes. This configuration unifies multiple storage nodes into a single cluster and storage pool, providing linear gains in capacity and performance alongside high availability.
