Qobuz introduces AI tag to identify AI-generated music

French music streaming platform Qobuz has introduced an in-house developed AI tag to help listeners identify AI-generated music within its app. The feature aims to increase transparency, allowing users to distinguish between human-curated content and AI-generated tracks.

Qobuz maintains that its editorial processes, including playlists and featured recommendations, remain centered on human selection. AI-generated music is explicitly excluded from these curated discovery journeys.

Regarding the prevalence of such content, Qobuz reports that AI-generated tracks currently account for 0.38% of total streams on the platform. The company also noted that 60% of streams from identified AI-generated tracks are classified as fraudulent by its anti-fraud systems; these streams do not trigger royalty payouts to rights holders. Additionally, the platform has removed approximately four million AI-identified albums with no listening activity from its search engine.
