Qom officials discuss healthcare needs and civil defense
During a visit to Qom, members of the Iranian Parliament's Health and Treatment Commission met with local officials to discuss the province's medical infrastructure. Qom Governor Akbar Behnamjou emphasized the need to align healthcare resources with the province's unique demands, noting that Qom hosts approximately 25 million pilgrims annually in addition to its resident population. Discussions focused on securing budgets for hospitals and strengthening health infrastructure, including a site visit to the ongoing construction of the Khatam 1,000-bed hospital.
Separately, Mehdi Motaghian, the Director General of Non-Military Defense in Qom, addressed the importance of protecting critical infrastructure such as water, electricity, gas, and telecommunications. During an information council meeting, Motaghian highlighted the necessity of preparing for various scenarios, ranging from normal to full-scale war conditions. He called for increased public awareness and inter-agency coordination to mitigate potential economic, social, and security damages through the 'Non-Military Defense Assistant' campaign.
