Qonto expands SME financial services in Southern Europe

Qonto is expanding its services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Southern Europe, specifically targeting Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Lorenzo Pireddu, Managing Director for Southern Europe, stated that the company is focusing on artificial intelligence, new credit tools, and the pursuit of a future banking license to support business growth.

To assist entrepreneurs in Italy, Qonto has launched a 'Company Creation' service in partnership with the accounting firm ITAdvisor. This initiative aims to streamline bureaucratic processes—including notary services, social security registration, and capital deposits—to reduce the time required to establish a business.

Additionally, the company has integrated the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing users to interact with their accounts using conversational AI agents like ChatGPT or Claude to check balances and cash flows.
