Qorvo unveils new C-band and X-band radar front-end solutions

Qorvo has announced new radio frequency (RF) front-end solutions for radar systems, targeting improvements in frequency agility, power efficiency, and size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) constraints.

For C-band radar, the company introduced a solution for pulsed electronically scanned array (ESA) systems. This includes the QPB1055, which integrates BAW filtering with switching and routing, and high-efficiency Gallium Nitride (GaN) power amplifiers, specifically the 50 W QPA2311 and the 200 W QPA0018. These components aim to reduce DC power consumption and heat while providing frequency agility across the 5.2 to 5.9 GHz range.

Additionally, Qorvo unveiled an integrated X-band RF front-end solution designed for active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar systems. Centered around the QPX0252 quad-channel beamformer operating between 7.9 and 12 GHz, the architecture is designed to fit within tight antenna lattice spacing. The system combines high transmit output power with low-noise receive processing, supporting sub-100 nanosecond transmit-to-receive switching speeds.
