QR code technology evolves with new security and business tools

New software tools are addressing different aspects of QR code utility and security. QuickeR, a new macOS application available in the Mac App Store, focuses on protecting users from ‘quishing’—attacks where manipulated QR codes lead to fraudulent websites. The app analyzes URLs for suspicious characters, such as homoglyphs, and highlights risks in red. To enhance security, it can block the automatic opening of addresses or copying content to the clipboard. All processing is performed locally on the device to ensure data privacy.

In the business sector, GetQR is providing a web-based SaaS platform designed to simplify the creation and management of dynamic QR codes. The platform aims to bridge the physical and digital worlds for small businesses and entrepreneurs by making QR codes more scalable and accessible, reducing technical barriers that often discourage consumers during the scanning process.
