QRIS digital payments reach 15 billion transactions in Indonesia

Bank Indonesia reported that the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) reached 15 billion cumulative transactions by July 2026. The digital payment system has expanded to 45 million merchants, primarily within the MSME sector, and serves 67 million users. The ecosystem is supported by 96 banks, 60 non-bank institutions, and four switching companies.

QRIS has expanded internationally through cross-border connectivity with Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and China. Inbound transactions from foreign tourists using QRIS in Indonesia reached Rp5.9 trillion, totaling approximately 19.76 million transactions.

In the Lampung province, QRIS adoption has reached 889,000 merchants, with transaction volumes totaling Rp1.87 trillion across 22.4 million transactions as of April 2026. Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal emphasized the need to pair this digital growth with increased financial literacy, particularly among Gen Z and Post Gen Z populations, to ensure digital transactions translate into broader economic prosperity and productive entrepreneurship.
