QTV expands with Sony camera fleet for Commonwealth Games coverage
Glasgow‑based outside‑broadcast company QTV has invested in a large suite of Sony broadcast equipment to broaden its production capabilities beyond sports. The purchase includes 24 Sony HDC‑3000 series studio cameras, 10 Sony PXW‑Z200 camcorders and an XVS‑G1 vision mixer, which will be installed in a purpose‑built 14‑camera OB truck. The upgraded fleet debuted in May when QTV supplied the world feed for Aston Villa’s UEFA Europa League bus parade from Birmingham, remotely controlled from Glasgow. The new truck is now supporting QTV’s contract to cover weightlifting and powerlifting events at the Commonwealth Games for host broadcaster Actua Films. Chief Technology Officer Gareth Gordon said the switch to Sony was driven by lower operating costs, higher reliability and better suitability for wet Scottish conditions, building on a partnership that began in 2017.
