Quake Champions shifts from free-to-play to paid model

Bethesda Softworks and id Software have transitioned Quake Champions from a free-to-play model to a one-time purchase title. With the release of update 1.31, the game is now available on Steam for a set price, approximately $9.99 or R$ 49,90.

This strategic shift involves the complete removal of microtransactions, including Battle Passes, weekly challenges, in-game currencies like Platinum and Shards, and Champion Progression systems. Instead, the upfront cost provides players with immediate access to all Champions and most cosmetic items.

Existing players who previously accessed the game for free will be automatically upgraded to the full paid version at no additional cost. For those on the Microsoft Store, a migration path is available by linking Bethesda.net accounts to Steam to ensure continued access.
