Qualcomm appoints Sergio Buniac to lead Mobile and Personal AI division
Qualcomm has appointed Sergio Buniac as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Mobile, Compute and Personal AI division. Buniac, who will officially assume the role on September 2, will oversee business areas including smartphones, personal computing, wearables, extended reality (XR), and next-generation AI devices.
Buniac joins Qualcomm from Motorola, where he served as President of Motorola Devices since 2018 and held various leadership roles over a 30-year career. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon noted that Buniac has a “solid track record of driving innovation, transforming, and growing businesses,” and will play a vital role in expanding the Snapdragon platform ecosystem during the transition to the era of Agentic AI.
The appointment comes as Qualcomm seeks to integrate mobile computing with AI capabilities to address a market where processing increasingly occurs on-device rather than in the cloud.
