Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon joins Trump delegation to China

Cristiano Amon, a Brazilian engineer who graduated from Unicamp, is the global chief executive of Qualcomm. In May 2026 he travelled to Beijing as part of President Donald Trump's three‑day official visit, alongside technology leaders such as Elon Musk, Tim Cook and Nvidia founder Jensen Huang.

During the trip the U.S. side announced a Boeing aircraft sale to China and the approval for Nvidia to supply its H200 AI chip to ten Chinese companies. Amon’s presence highlighted Qualcomm’s role in the broader U.S.–China technology and semiconductor competition, where his company is expanding AI research and supplying processors for smartphones, PCs, automotive and industrial devices.
