Qualcomm completes acquisition of Modular to boost AI compute platform

Qualcomm announced the completion of its purchase of Modular Inc., a startup focused on AI‑native software infrastructure. The acquisition is intended to build a leading AI compute platform that supports data‑center, edge, industrial and personal AI workloads, accelerating both generative and agent‑based AI from edge to cloud.

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said the combined strengths will deliver high‑performance, energy‑efficient AI solutions across heterogeneous hardware. Modular co‑founder and CEO Chris Lattner will join Qualcomm as senior vice president for advanced AI software and platforms. The deal adds Modular’s Mojo, MAX and Modular Cloud products to Qualcomm’s portfolio and reinforces an open, heterogeneous compute ecosystem.
