Qualcomm denies Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 overheating reports
Qualcomm has officially refuted reports claiming its Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset suffers from overheating issues and thermal throttling. The denial follows claims from South Korean media suggesting that Samsung's internal testing of the Galaxy S27 Ultra revealed the processor exceeded temperature thresholds during heavy workloads, potentially leading Samsung to switch to its in-house Exynos 2700 chip.
Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer stated that recent reports regarding thermal issues are inaccurate and that there are no systemic flaws in the platform. The company noted that mobile manufacturers typically fine-tune chips to balance performance and power consumption, suggesting that internal testing results from specific partners might be misleading or context-dependent.
Separately, leaks regarding the upcoming vivo X500 Ultra suggest the device will launch in early 2027, likely between March and April. The smartphone is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 6.85-inch BOE LTPO 2K+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and a large battery potentially reaching 7,000 to 8,000 mAh. The device is also rumored to include a high-resolution 200MP telephoto camera system.
