Qualcomm expands AI capabilities and computing ecosystem at Snapdragon Summit

At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm announced significant advancements in AI architecture and computing ecosystem expansion. The company introduced 1-bit AI models designed for ultra-small wearable devices, such as the Snapdragon AR1 and Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2. This technology reduces memory usage to one-eighth of 8-bit models, requiring only 125MB of RAM compared to 1GB, while maintaining high accuracy through collaboration with PrismML.

Qualcomm is also expanding its Snapdragon X series footprint across multiple operating systems. In partnership with Microsoft, new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models featuring the Snapdragon X2 Plus chipset were unveiled, offering improved battery life and local AI performance. The company is also targeting the Google ecosystem with the 'Google Book' concept, which integrates ChromeOS and Android to bridge the gap between smartphones and PCs. Additionally, Qualcomm announced official Linux support starting with the Snapdragon X2 series, aiming for Ubuntu certification in early 2025 through a partnership with Canonical.
