Qualcomm launches robotics and physical AI initiative in Japan
Qualcomm Technologies has announced a long-term investment initiative in Japan to accelerate innovation in robotics and physical artificial intelligence. Central to this project is the establishment of the Qualcomm Japan Robotics Center, a facility dedicated to applied research and development, specialized workforce training, and technical collaboration.
The initiative aims to support Japan’s industrial leadership and address national priorities such as labor shortages through intelligent automation. The center will foster a collaborative ecosystem involving startups, academic institutions, and major industrial players.
Confirmed partners include a wide range of multinational corporations and research entities, such as Toyota Motor Corporation, Sony Corporation, Fanuc Corporation, Panasonic Industry, Fujitsu, NEC Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, KDDI Corporation, NTT Docomo, and the University of Tokyo. This network is designed to drive the development and global deployment of next-generation intelligent robotics solutions.
