Qualcomm processors see new mid-range launch and flagship stability reports
The smartphone market is seeing significant developments regarding both new hardware releases and stability concerns. vivo has introduced the S60t, a mid-range smartphone featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. The device includes a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM (expandable to 24GB), and a 7200 mAh battery with 90W fast charging. It runs on Android 17 with the OriginOS 7 interface.
Simultaneously, reports have emerged from China regarding instability in devices powered by the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Users of flagship models, including the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, Honor Magic9 Pro Max, and iQOO 16, have reported black screens and unexpected reboots, particularly during intensive gaming sessions. While a hardware defect has not been confirmed, some suspect the issues may stem from firmware voltage adjustments intended to improve battery life. Qualcomm and the affected manufacturers have not yet issued official statements regarding the cause.
