Qualcomm Secures Major AI Chip Deals as ByteDance Announces New AI Scaling Law

Qualcomm, the U.S. chipmaker, announced contracts with three hyperscale cloud providers that together represent at least $1 billion in commitments. Management said two hyperscalers are already under contract and a deal to sell next‑generation AI‑focused CPUs to Meta Platforms will begin in the second half of 2028. The company projects data‑center revenue of $5 billion in fiscal 2027, rising to $15 billion by 2029, as it expands its AI‑chip business.

ByteDance’s Seed AI research team published a paper describing a new scaling law for post‑deployment learning. Testing 134 long‑horizon tasks on the EdgeBench benchmark over more than 38,000 hours of agent interaction, the study found that AI agents "doubled their learning speed every three months" of real‑world use. The benchmark included top models such as Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8 and OpenAI’s GPT‑5.5. If validated, the finding could shift the AI industry’s focus from pre‑training scale to continuous, real‑world improvement.
