Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 reaches 5GHz clock speeds
Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, marking a milestone in mobile processing by reaching clock speeds exceeding 5GHz. This performance is driven by a custom Oryon CPU architecture and FlexCache technology, which dynamically distributes cache resources among cores to optimize efficiency and power consumption.
Leaked technical specifications for the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975) suggest an eight-core CPU design utilizing TSMC's 2nm N2P manufacturing process. The Pro model is expected to feature two Prime cores running at 5.01 GHz, three cores at 4.03 GHz, and three cores at 3.74 GHz. It is also anticipated to include an Adreno 850 GPU with 18 MB of graphics memory and 8 MB of Last Level Cache (LLC).
MediaTek is also preparing its next-generation flagship, the Dimensity 9600 Pro. Like Qualcomm's high-end chip, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is expected to be built on TSMC's 2nm N2P process and will incorporate Arm's latest generation of CPU cores.
