Qualcomm Snapdragon chips to power Samsung Galaxy foldables, watches and eyewear

At Samsung's Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, Qualcomm announced that its Snapdragon platforms will be integrated across Samsung's next Galaxy devices. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy will power the new foldable smartphones—including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8—as well as the Galaxy Watch9, Watch Ultra2 and a line of intelligent eyewear slated for release in the fall. Snapdragon Wear Elite will debut in the Galaxy Watch series, offering advanced sensor fusion and connectivity for personalized health insights, while the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset will drive the upcoming intelligent eyewear. Qualcomm highlighted the Oryon CPU as the world’s fastest mobile processor, promising industry‑leading performance and power efficiency to enable context‑aware AI experiences across the Galaxy ecosystem. The partnership aims to deepen engineering collaboration between the two companies, extending AI capabilities to multiple form factors and regions, with some markets using Snapdragon chips and others retaining Samsung’s Exynos processors.
