Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processors for new flagship smartphones

Qualcomm has unveiled its next-generation mobile processor lineup, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Built on a 2nm process, these chips are designed to enhance on-device artificial intelligence and high-end imaging capabilities, with the Extreme model supporting 8K video at 60fps and advanced AI-driven video processing.

Several major smartphone manufacturers are integrating these new chips into upcoming flagship devices. Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China, which features the Extreme Gen 6 chip, a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, and a triple-camera system including a 200MP main sensor. Leaks also suggest a standard Xiaomi 18 model may debut in December 2026 with a 7,200 mAh battery.

Motorola has introduced the Motorola Signature 27, its most advanced smartphone to date, utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and featuring integrated Google Gemini AI capabilities. Additionally, Honor has released the Magic9 Pro Max in China, which also utilizes the Extreme Gen 6 processor and features a camera system optimized with Arri technology and 200MP sensors.
