Qualys launches InstaScan to detect vulnerabilities within minutes
Qualys Inc. announced InstaScan, a new feature of its Enterprise TruRisk Management (ETM) platform that uses the Agent‑Insta technology to provide continuous, "scanless" detection of newly disclosed software vulnerabilities. The tool transforms asset telemetry into real‑time exposure data, shrinking the gap between a vulnerability’s public disclosure and its detection from days to minutes.
In the first seven months of 2026, 46,048 CVEs were published, and the Verizon 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report identified vulnerability exploitation as the leading entry point for attacks, accounting for 31% of incidents. Traditional detection cycles left defenders with a median nine‑day lag, while attackers acted within hours. InstaScan aims to close that gap, allowing organizations to react as soon as a threat emerges. "Qualys InstaScan shifts threat intelligence from retrospective analysis to proactive detection at the moment a vulnerability appears," said Theresa Lanowitz, principal cybersecurity analyst at Omdia.
The feature correlates new vulnerability data with existing asset inventories and threat feeds, automatically flagging exposures without waiting for scheduled scans, thereby enhancing risk management for enterprises worldwide.
