Quang Ngai authorities find engraved pen in martyr grave

During the excavation of unidentified martyr graves at Thien But Martyrs Cemetery in Quang Ngai, authorities discovered a dark red fountain pen with the name ‘Pham Tao’ hand-engraved on its body. Along with the pen, officials recovered a leather wallet and other personal artifacts from the site.

Colonel Trinh Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissar of the Quang Ngai Military Command, stated that these personal items serve as vital clues for verifying the identities of the fallen. The name ‘Pham Tao’ could potentially lead to new search directions if witnesses or former comrades can provide information regarding the owner.

In addition to the artifacts, biological samples were collected for DNA testing. The excavation is part of a 500-day campaign to search for, collect, and identify the remains of martyrs. Currently, the cemetery contains over 326 graves, 237 of which remain unidentified.
