Quang Ngai police charge 24 over 1.2 trillion‑dong online football betting ring
The Quang Ngai provincial police in Vietnam announced on 26 July that 24 people have been charged for operating a large‑scale online football betting network. The ring, led by Nguyễn Công Võ and Nguyễn Đức Nghiêm, moved almost 1,200 billion VND through internet platforms. Five defendants face charges of “organising gambling” and the remaining 19 are charged with “gambling”. Police said the investigation is ongoing, will broaden the probe to identify other participants, and urged the public to refrain from any involvement in online betting, including lending bank or social‑media accounts for such activities.
