Quang Ngai residents restore mangrove forests to protect coastlines

In Tinh Khe Commune, Quang Ngai Province, local authorities and residents are working together to restore mangrove forests along the Bai Ca and Kinh rivers. These forests serve as a “green shield” that protects the coastline from erosion, storm surges, floods, and rising tides.

Currently, Tinh Khe Commune possesses over 26 hectares of mangrove forest. In recent years, community efforts have focused on restoring more than 3 hectares of these areas. The mangroves, consisting of species such as Rhizophora and Avicennia, provide essential habitats for fish, shrimp, and birds, which in turn supports the local community's livelihoods through natural aquatic resources.

Local leaders and residents emphasize that preserving these forests is vital for future generations and for protecting aquaculture ponds from structural damage caused by erosion.
