Quang Ninh agricultural processors shift to imports amid local shortages

Agricultural processing enterprises in Quang Ninh are increasingly relying on imported raw materials due to local shortages. Quang Ninh Pine Joint Stock Company, for instance, now sources 50% of its resin from imports, specifically Caribbean resin from Central America, to maintain production stability.

While importing ensures a steady supply, it introduces risks such as higher shipping costs and price volatility. The company faces potential losses if the market price of finished products drops during the months-long transit period of imported goods. Currently, local resin accounts for less than 10% of the company's total 16,000-ton annual requirement.
