Quang Ninh police issue safety advisory for TikTok users
Vietnam’s Quang Ninh provincial police have issued a public warning about the risks of using the TikTok platform. They note that personal data can be exposed, accounts may be hijacked and malicious actors could use the service for fraud or to spread false information.
The police advise users to set their accounts to private, accept followers only they know, and control who can view, comment on or download their videos. They also recommend avoiding the posting of phone numbers, addresses, identity‑card numbers or banking details, using strong passwords, enabling two‑factor authentication, and accessing TikTok only on secure devices. Users should be wary of unknown links, unsolicited OTP requests and dubious online money‑making schemes, and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
The advisory stresses that protecting personal information online is essential for individual safety and national cyber security.
