Quang Ninh Province Launches Electric Bus Pilot for School Transport 2026‑2027

The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has approved a pilot program to transport schoolchildren using electric buses during the 2026‑2027 academic year. The scheme will operate in the three urban wards of Hạ Long, Hồng Gai and Hà Tu, establishing six dedicated routes and deploying about 50 thirty‑seat electric buses in the first phase. The plan aims to serve roughly 2,151 of the 2,596 registered students (about 83 % of demand), reduce traffic congestion at school entrances, improve safety and promote green mobility. All vehicles must meet technical standards, including cameras, fire‑extinguishing equipment, and emergency tools, and will be monitored through digital management systems. Supporting infrastructure such as bus stops, charging stations, parking areas and power supply will be completed before the targeted launch date of 30 August 2026, allowing the service to start with the new school year. The initiative is intended to foster a habit of public‑transport use among students and lower reliance on private vehicles in the province.
