Quang Tri Airport project reaches 80% construction milestone
The Quang Tri Airport project has reached a significant milestone, with construction volume now exceeding 80%. All 265 hectares of land required for the project have been successfully handed over following the completion of site clearance in the Gio Linh and Cua Viet communes.
The project, which has a total investment of over 5,800 billion VND, is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model by a consortium including T&T Group's infrastructure development arm and CIENCO4 Group. Construction began in July 2024 on the 316-hectare site.
Key technical components, including the main airside area, are 100% complete. Contracts for runways, taxiways, and drainage systems have reached over 90% of their value. Air traffic management equipment has been manufactured and is currently in storage, with installation scheduled for completion by January 2027.
During a recent meeting with provincial authorities, Do Quang Hien, Executive Chairman of T&T Group, proposed that Quang Tri province consider financial support for airlines during the initial stages of operating new routes to mitigate potential early losses.
