Quang Tri border guards and Lao police seize 30 tons of firecrackers

Border guards from Quang Tri province, Vietnam, in coordination with the Savannakhet provincial police in Laos, have successfully executed a major operation resulting in the seizure of over 30 tons of various types of firecrackers.

The operation targeted the My Yen-Ma Hat area in Sepon District, Savannakhet. Authorities inspected seven warehouses, discovering 120 boxes containing various types of fireworks, including tube, ball, and string firecrackers. This seizure is noted as the largest amount of firecrackers confiscated in a single operation to date.

Three individuals were apprehended in connection with the illegal storage: A May (born 1962, also known as the “border godfather”), Thao A Lam (born 1983), and Thao Do (born 1981). While some suspects attempted to flee into the forest during heavy rain and dark conditions, law enforcement continues to expand the investigation to identify all Vietnamese and Lao nationals involved. All seized materials have been destroyed.
