Quang Tri celebrates 100 years of Khe Sanh coffee

The Quang Tri provincial People's Committee has launched a series of activities titled “Khe Sanh Coffee - The Flavor of Peace” to commemorate the centenary of coffee cultivation in the Khe Sanh region. The event is part of the preparations for the 2026 Festival for Peace.

Since the first coffee trees were planted in the basalt soil of Khe Sanh in 1926, the crop has become a vital economic pillar for the local population, including the Van Kieu and Pa Co ethnic groups. Quang Tri Chairman Bui Hoang Phuong stated that the province aims to build the Khe Sanh coffee brand internationally by focusing on quality, identity, and competitive advantage.

The province's development strategy involves placing growers and processors at the center of the value chain while integrating agricultural production with local culture, history, and tourism. This approach seeks to transform coffee plantations and historical sites along Route 9 into unique travel experiences for domestic and international visitors.
