Quang Tri man fined for spreading false information about tourism ambassador

Authorities in Lao Bao Commune, Quang Tri province, have issued an administrative fine of 10 million VND to a man identified as L. C. H. for spreading false information on social media.

The penalty follows a report from Lai Thi Yen N., the 2021 Quang Tri tourism ambassador, who alleged that a Facebook account named “Khun Win” posted defamatory content. The posts falsely claimed that she had contracted a serious illness while playing pickleball and had subsequently infected 22 other people.

After investigating the matter and collecting evidence, the Lao Bao Commune Police confirmed that L. C. H. was the individual operating the account. Local police have used the incident to urge citizens to exercise responsibility on social media and verify information before sharing to avoid violating the honor and reputation of others.
