The Ministry of Construction has approved the investment policy for the Can Tho 2 Bridge and its connecting roads. The project has a preliminary total investment of over 27,050 billion VND, funded entirely by the central budget.

Designed as a dual-purpose structure, the bridge will combine a high-speed highway on the upper level with a railway on the lower level. The highway portion will feature six lanes with a design speed of 100 km/h, while the railway will accommodate double tracks for both passenger and freight trains.

The bridge will span the Hau River, located approximately 4.5 km downstream from the existing Can Tho Bridge. The total route length is approximately 17.6 km, connecting the My Thuan-Can Tho expressway in Vinh Long province to the Can Tho-Hau Giang expressway in Can Tho city. Construction is expected to commence in 2027, with a projected completion timeline of five years.
