Quantinuum and Rolls-Royce partner on quantum computing for industrial design

Quantinuum, Rolls-Royce, Riverlane, and the University of Edinburgh's EPCC have signed an agreement to explore quantum computing applications for industrial design and simulation.

The collaboration focuses on using fault-tolerant quantum computing to advance complex fluid dynamics simulations, specifically for the design of gas turbines. Under the agreement, Quantinuum will provide access to its quantum systems and software environment, while Rolls-Royce will contribute industrial design use cases and sector expertise. Riverlane will provide expertise in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant algorithms, and the EPCC will contribute supercomputing expertise and hybrid workflow integration. This project aims to support the United Kingdom's quantum strategy by developing the necessary technologies and hybrid computing capabilities for future industrial applications.
