Quantum BioPharma reports encouraging mid‑trial results in MS imaging study
Quantum BioPharma announced that its pilot multiple sclerosis (MS) imaging trial has reached the midpoint of patient enrollment. The study, conducted with Massachusetts General Hospital, uses a novel PET imaging technique that can differentiate demyelinated nerve fibers that remain viable from permanently damaged axons. Preliminary scans have shown promising signals in acute MS lesions.
The imaging data are directly relevant to the company’s investigational drug Lucid‑MS, which targets the PAD2 enzyme to inhibit demyelination. If validated, the method could provide a more precise biomarker for myelin loss and repair, potentially speeding up the evaluation of remyelinating therapies and reducing trial costs.
