Quantum Computing Stocks: Alphabet, Nvidia, IonQ and Rigetti Highlighted
Investors are being urged to consider quantum computing as a long‑term growth sector, with some analysts expecting commercially viable machines by 2030. A recent recommendation lists three equities to watch: Alphabet, which is developing its own Willow quantum chip and has demonstrated algorithmic advantages; Nvidia, which despite not building quantum processors, is providing hardware tools to support the quantum ecosystem; and IonQ, a pure‑play quantum firm expanding into a full‑stack platform covering computing, networking, sensing and security.
A separate analysis compares IonQ with Rigetti Computing, concluding that IonQ currently leads the race. IonQ’s trapped‑ion approach delivered a 99.99% two‑qubit gate fidelity and the company shipped its first 256‑qubit system in early 2026 to customers in over 30 countries. Rigetti, using superconducting qubits, has launched a 108‑qubit Cepheus‑1 processor with 99.1% fidelity and targets quantum advantage within three years by scaling toward 1,000 qubits. The contrast highlights differing technologies and market strategies within the emerging quantum computing industry.
