Quay Boddie resigns from LaGrange City Council after guilty plea

LaGrange City Councilor Marquavious ‘Quay’ Boddie has resigned from his position following a guilty plea to misdemeanor charges of public indecency and obstruction.

The charges originated from a February incident at LaGrange College, where Boddie, who served as the college’s Career Services Coordinator, allegedly exposed himself to an adult student in his office. Boddie also faced obstruction charges for initially denying the allegations to investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Boddie has been sentenced to two years of probation and was previously terminated by LaGrange College. LaGrange Mayor Jim Arrington issued a statement regarding the resignation, noting that elected officials hold a position of public trust. Because significant time remains in the current term, city officials indicated that a special election will be held to fill the District 2 seat.
