Quebec City police arrest two youths for impersonating officers

Two youths, aged 16 and 18, were arrested in Quebec City for impersonating police officers to commit fraud. The arrests occurred following a 911 call from an employee at a senior residence in the Charlesbourg sector, reporting that an octogenarian was being targeted by a scam.

During the intervention, police seized bank cards and over $3,500 in cash believed to be linked to other fraud investigations. The suspects were released on a promise to appear in court. The Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) noted a recent increase in reports of this specific type of telephone scam, which targets vulnerable individuals by posing as law enforcement to steal personal information or facilitate theft.
