Quebec coastal regions offer scenic tourism and religious history

The coastal regions of Quebec offer diverse experiences ranging from accessible nature itineraries to reflections on religious history. In Charlevoix, an eight-day route along the Saint Lawrence River allows travelers to explore mountains and picturesque villages such as Baie-Saint-Paul and La Malbaie. This itinerary emphasizes accessibility, with many locations offering facilities for travelers with disabilities and specialized transport services available through Mobilité collective Charlevoix.

Further along the north coast of the Gaspé Peninsula, Route 132 provides scenic views of cliffs and forests. The region is characterized by numerous towns named after saints, such as Saint-Simon and Sainte-Flavie, serving as a testament to Quebec’s Catholic history. However, many of the historic stone churches in these coastal villages, such as the church in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies, remain closed to the public, with some former parish houses now operating as commercial establishments like cafes.
