Quebec construction sites receive safety alert as tool theft probe unfolds

The Quebec occupational health and safety board (CNESST) has reminded employers and workers in the Charlevoix region to heighten vigilance as construction activities resume after the holiday break. The agency stresses the need to identify and eliminate hazards, use safe equipment and apply appropriate control measures to prevent workplace accidents.

In Drummondville, a significant theft of tools was reported on the Cégep de Drummondville construction site over the weekend. The Sûreté du Québec opened an investigation, recovered the stolen items after searching a nearby building, and continues to pursue the case. Sergeant Louis‑Philippe Ruel said, “The tools were in a trailer on the site. The investigation quickly led to a search of a nearby building, which allowed the recovery of the stolen goods,” but no arrests have been made so far.
