Quebec film festivals announce upcoming programming

Two major film festivals in Quebec have announced their upcoming programming.

The 15th edition of the Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec (FCVQ) will take place from September 9 to 13. Centered on the themes of youth, identity, and the future, the festival will feature nine feature films in competition, including the North American premiere of ‘Juste une illusion’ by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano. The selection focuses on emerging filmmakers and explores the complexities of growing up. Additionally, the festival will showcase 84 short films.

The 55th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC) in Montreal is scheduled for October 8 to 18. The festival will open with the film ‘Violence du corps de l’autre’ by Denis Côté, which recently received a Youth Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival. The program also includes notable titles such as Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Autofiction’ and Mike Leigh’s ‘Tender Loving Care’.
