Quebec hosts nautical charity events for music and adaptive sailing

Quebec is hosting two significant nautical charity events in August 2026 to support local community organizations.

The 12th edition of the Desgagnés Kayak Challenge will see 200 kayakers travel 250km along the Saint Lawrence River from Montreal to Quebec City between August 13 and 16. The event aims to raise $500,000 for Jeunes musiciens du monde (JMM), an organization that provides free music education to youth facing adversity. Since 2014, the challenge has raised over $3 million.

On August 15, the 14th FestiVoile AQVA will take place on Lake Saint-Louis. This sailing regatta supports the Association québécoise de voile adaptée (AQVA), which provides adaptive sailing opportunities for individuals with physical or sensory disabilities. This year's event is dedicated to the memory of AQVA founder René Dallaire and features approximately 50 vessels from various yacht clubs. All profits from the regatta and subsequent festivities will be donated to the AQVA.
