Quebec Liberal leader Charles Milliard unveils economic plan
Quebec Liberal Party leader Charles Milliard presented his party’s economic vision at a press conference outside the U.S. consulate in Quebec City, a month before the official provincial election campaign begins. The plan emphasizes a “clear and pragmatic” approach to strengthen Quebec’s role within Canada, forge new trade partnerships and adapt the province to shifts in the North‑American economy. Milliard pledged four commitments, including tighter cooperation with Ontario and other provinces, and the creation of alliances to “conquer new markets together”.
Analysts noted that Milliard’s momentum had slowed since his February leadership win, but the new policy announcement is expected to revive his profile ahead of the October 5 election. He said, “We’re proposing something clear and pragmatic, which is to work for a stronger Quebec and a stronger Canada,” and added in French, “C’est notre voisin naturel, alors rétablir cette alliance est une priorité.”
