Quebec Liberal leader Charles Milliard unveils forestry and infrastructure plans

Charles Milliard, leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ), has outlined several key policy priorities during recent regional visits.

In the Lac-Saint-Jean region, Milliard presented a forestry vision aimed at modernizing the sector. The PLQ proposes introducing legislation within its first year to simplify planning, decentralize decision-making to regional levels, and better utilize wood from private forests before accessing public lands. The plan also emphasizes increasing local wood processing to create higher value-added products and ensuring Quebec wood products are systematically considered for provincial construction and infrastructure projects.

In Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Milliard committed to relaunching the expansion of Highway 30 between Boucherville and Brossard. The PLQ proposes adding one lane in each direction and reconfiguring ramps and interchanges to manage growing traffic volumes. The party intends to implement dynamic management for these new lanes to prioritize public transit and carpooling, noting the corridor's importance for freight and its connection to the Réseau express métropolitain (REM). Milliard criticized the current Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) government for failing to fulfill previous promises regarding this infrastructure project.
